THE Police Command in Lagos State has apprehended a 29-year-old suspected armed robber during a routine patrol in the Igando area of the state.
The police also recovered a locally fabricated pistol and assorted charms from the suspect.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.
Adebisi said the arrest was made after a police patrol team spotted three men riding a motorcycle and behaving suspiciously.
The suspects attempted to flee on sighting the police, but one of them was apprehended while the two others escaped, abandoning the motorcycle.
A search of the suspect and the abandoned motorcycle led to the recovery of one locally fabricated pistol and assorted charms.
According to Adebisi, the suspect is in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
The image maker added that investigation into the case had begun.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Fatai Tijani, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism.
Tijani reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling violent crime.
He urged residents to continue provide timely and credible information to assist the police in preventing crime and apprehending criminal elements.
The CP also encouraged residents to report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines for prompt police response
