
Suspected armed Herdsmen assailants on Thursday attacked farmers in Anyiase, Moon Council Ward of Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, leaving at least three people dead.
Residents said the attackers invaded farms at about 3:20 p.m., killing two farmers identified as Asongo Nagwebe and Tarzan Agbahegh.
A resident, Mr Lawrence Akerigba, said two other victims, a man and a woman, sustained serious injuries during the attack and were taken to a hospital in Jato-Aka for treatment.
According to him, the injured man later died while being transferred to Makurdi on Thursday night, bringing the death toll to three.
Mr Akerigba further alleged that the assailants returned on Friday morning and blocked the road at Kyoawen Junction, where they opened fire on a passenger bus killing another one person.
The number of casualties resulting from the latest attack could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
He appealed to security agencies to urgently deploy personnel to the area to protect residents and prevent further attacks.
When contacted by the Police Spokesperson Udeme Edet said she was yet to get a report on the issue from the covering DPO from the affected area.
