Former Party Party Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State, Danladi Ya’u, has defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 elections.
Ya’u made the defection and declared support for the PDP guber candidate, Isa Pantami’s announcing that his decision takes immediate effect, adding that the development was was driven by his conviction that Pantami, who is a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, possesses the leadership qualities needed to govern Gombe State.
The defector, who was serving as the party’s State Auditor before his exit, on Tuesday, stated that his resignation covers both his office and membership of the party, all information contained in a letter addressed to the ADC Ward Chairman in Kwadon, Liji Ward, Yamaltu/Deba Local Government.
According to him, aligning with the Peoples Democratic Party would enable him to actively support Pantami’s expected governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 election.
“I have taken this decision after careful consideration and in line with my political convictions.
“I believe Professor Isa Ali Pantami offers the vision and leadership required to move Gombe State forward,” Ya’u said.
He also expressed gratitude to the ADC leadership and members for the opportunity to serve the party in various capacities, noting that he remained appreciative of the trust and cooperation he received during his tenure.
Ya’u said his time in the ADC provided valuable political experience and helped him build lasting relationships across the state.
“I remain grateful to party leaders, members and supporters who worked with me over the years. The experience gained and friendships established will always be cherished,” he added.
The former chairman further wished the ADC leadership success in its future political activities despite his departure from the party.
