The Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) has confirmed the killing of one of its senior officers, identified as Colonel AA Ude, following a shooting attack by unidentified assailants at his residence in Abuja.
The incident occurred at about 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the officer’s residence in Phase 5, Army Housing Estate, Kurudu, Abuja.
The DIA disclosed this in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday by Captain JE Oti, the Acting Assistant Director, Protocol, Defence Intelligence Agency.
According to the Agency, security and law enforcement authorities have commenced a full investigation into the incident, with efforts underway to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible for the killing.
“The Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) regrets to announce the tragic death of one of its senior officers, the late Colonel AA Ude, following an attack by unidentified assailants at his residence in Phase 5, Army Housing Estate, Kurudu, Abuja,” the statement said.
“The Agency is working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure that the circumstances surrounding the incident are thoroughly investigated,” it said.
The killing of the senior military intelligence officer has raised fresh security concerns as authorities intensify efforts to establish the identity of the attackers and determine the motive behind the shooting.
The DIA assured the public that it remained resolute in carrying out its constitutional mandate to safeguard Nigeria’s security.
It further pledged to continue working with relevant security and law enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.
The Agency also extended its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased officer, his colleagues and members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
The incident is now subject to a full investigation, with security authorities expected to establish the circumstances leading to the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.
