The Spiritual Father of the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Movement Church Worldwide, His Most Eminence Prophet Emmanuel Alogbo, has died at the age of 93, bringing to an end a remarkable era of spiritual leadership in one of Nigeria’s foremost indigenous Christian denominations.
The church announced his passing in a statement released on Thursday by its Secretary-General, Prophet Anthony Olusesan Samaye, who disclosed that the revered cleric died peacefully in the early hours of July 30 at his residence in Lagos.
According to the statement, Prophet Alogbo passed away at about 2:10 a.m. in the presence of members of his family and domestic staff after dedicating decades of his life to Christian ministry, evangelism and the growth of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide.
His death has thrown members of the church into mourning, with tributes already pouring in from worshippers, religious leaders and admirers who described him as a humble servant of God, a father figure and a symbol of unwavering faith.
Church announces passing
Confirming the development, the church expressed gratitude to God for what it described as a life of exceptional service and commitment to the gospel.
“With gratitude to God Almighty for a life well spent, on behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire church, I write to inform you all that our Spiritual Father was called to glory in the early hours of today, July 30, 2026, at about 2:10 a.m.,” the statement read.
The church noted that Prophet Alogbo remained committed to his spiritual responsibilities until his final days and left behind an enduring legacy of discipline, humility and devotion to God’s work.
Tributes from members
Following the announcement, members of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide described the late spiritual father as a compassionate leader whose teachings, prayers and exemplary lifestyle positively influenced generations of believers.
Many recalled his efforts in promoting unity within the church and strengthening its presence across Nigeria and in various countries where the denomination has established branches.
Church leaders said his unwavering commitment to holiness, peace and selfless service became the foundation of his ministry and inspired countless worshippers throughout his years of leadership.
Seven-day prayer programme
To honour the late cleric, the church announced a seven-day prayer programme beginning immediately after the announcement of his passing.
The daily prayer sessions will be held from 5 p.m. at his residence located at Plot 1, Alogbo Close, off Ahmadiyya Bus Stop, Ijaiye-Ojokoro, Lagos.
Members, ministers and well-wishers have been encouraged to attend the prayers while committing the church and the bereaved family to God during the mourning period.
The leadership also urged members to remain steadfast in their faith and continue to uphold the values for which Prophet Alogbo was widely respected.
Funeral plans underway
The church disclosed that funeral arrangements for the late spiritual leader would be announced after consultations with members of his family and church leadership.
It appealed to members to await official announcements regarding burial activities and memorial programmes that would celebrate his life and remarkable contributions to the church.
The church added that subsequent updates would be communicated through its official channels as preparations progress.
Legacy of faith and service
Prophet Emmanuel Alogbo was widely recognised as one of Nigeria’s longest-serving church leaders, having spent several decades providing spiritual direction to the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide.
During his leadership, the church expanded its evangelical outreach, strengthened its organisational structures and continued to spread its message across different parts of Nigeria and beyond.
Beyond his responsibilities within the church, he earned widespread respect among Christian leaders for his contributions to indigenous Christianity, his commitment to moral values and his advocacy for peaceful coexistence among people of different backgrounds.
The church concluded its statement by praying for the peaceful repose of his soul while expressing confidence that his legacy of faith, sacrifice and dedicated service would continue to inspire future generations of Christians.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may God grant the church the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement added.
