Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has appointed two new commissioners and reshuffled his cabinet, redeploying six serving commissioners in a move aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery across key sectors.
The newly appointed commissioners are Ayuk Afor, who takes charge of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Dodeye Arikpo, who will head the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations.
The reshuffle saw Anom Moses moved from the Ministry of Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development to the Ministry of Human Capital Development, while Ekpang Ekpang was redeployed from the Ministry of Information and Orientation to the Ministry of Lands.
Cobham Ene was transferred from the Ministry of Transport to the Ministry of Information and Orientation, while Mensah Offiong moved from the Ministry of Water Resources to the Ministry of Environment.
Also affected were Kingsley Egumi, who was redeployed from the Ministry of Human Capital Development to the Ministry of Transport, and Ekpenyong Edet, who moved from the Ministry of Lands to the Ministry of Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development.
Speaking after administering the oath of office to the new commissioners on Monday, Otu said the appointments and redeployments were part of efforts to strengthen his administration and accelerate the delivery of the People First agenda.
“Today, I had the privilege of swearing in two new commissioners into the Cross River State Executive Council, further strengthening our administration’s resolve to deliver on the People First agenda,” the governor said.
He described the cabinet reshuffle as a strategic move to align the experience and expertise of members of the State Executive Council with the priorities of his administration.
“These adjustments are aimed at aligning experience and expertise with the priorities of government as we continue to accelerate development across all sectors of our dear state,” he said.
Congratulating the newly inaugurated commissioners and those assigned to new portfolios, Otu urged them to remain focused, innovative and committed to delivering tangible results for the people of the state.
“Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more prosperous Cross River where every citizen benefits from the dividends of good governance,” he added.
