The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Kano State has arrested two suspects who have been accused of offences of vandalization of railway and cables.
The enforcement was held during an survelance operation held in the 44 local governments in the area which led to the nabbing of the individuals in a move to protect national assets and infrastructure, as informed by the state Commandant, Mohammed Agalama.
Agalama held that the arrests which took place at Kumbotso and Nasarawa Local governments on Monday led to the arrestees, 22-year-old Gath Gamaliel and Salisu Jibrin, 31, the former, caught with 60 kilograms of vandalized copper wire in Yankaba, while the other offender, Gamaliel, had in possession, 17 vandalized railway clips, and apprehended in Panshekara area.
He added that the arrests demonstrated the command’s commitment to combating vandalism and other economic crimes that threaten national development.
The Commandant added that investigations were ongoing to uncover other members of the criminal syndicates, after which the suspects would be charged in court.
