Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy has etched his name into football and music history after performing at the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show.
The Grammy-winning singer became the first African artiste to perform during a FIFA World Cup final halftime spectacle, marking a significant milestone for African music on one of the world’s biggest sporting stages.
Burna Boy thrilled fans with a performance of “Dai Dai,” the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, alongside Colombian superstar Shakira during Sunday’s final in New Jersey.
The performance formed part of FIFA’s inaugural halftime entertainment at a World Cup final, a format inspired by major sporting events that combines football with global music performances.
The show also featured appearances by international stars, including Justin Bieber, BTS, Madonna and Coldplay, while popular streamer iShowSpeed closed the entertainment segment with his World Cup-themed song, “Champions.”
On the pitch, Spain were crowned world champions after defeating defending champions Argentina 1-0 following extra time. Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal to seal La Roja’s second FIFA World Cup title.
