A Magistrate’s Court in Lagos has granted bail to popular Nigerian TikToker and livestreamer Peller after he spent four days in police detention over allegations of obstructing law enforcement officers.
The court admitted Peller to bail in the sum of N500,000 on Tuesday following his arraignment.
He was charged alongside Bello Oladipo on multiple counts linked to his encounter with police officers in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
Charges filed against Peller
According to the charges presented before the court, Peller and his co-defendant are accused of obstructing police officers while they were carrying out their official duties.
The prosecution also accused them of engaging in conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace and conspiring to commit a felony.
The case followed Peller’s arrest on Friday before he was transferred to the Ikeja Police Station ahead of his arraignment.
Viral video sparked public attention
Before his arrest, a video circulated on social media showing Peller confronting police officers during the incident.
In the video, the content creator alleged that officers stopped him because he was driving a tinted vehicle without a number plate.
Peller claimed he had recently purchased the vehicle and accused the officers of pulling his shirt, pointing a firearm at him and insisting that he accompany them into custody.
The incident generated widespread reactions online, with many social media users debating the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
