Army Dismantles Illegal Bunkering Site in Lagos, Arrests 6 Suspects
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 65 Battalion have dismantled a suspected illegal bunkering site in the Orile General Area of Lagos State, arresting six suspected oil bunkerers during an intelligence-led operation.
The operation, conducted under the leadership of the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo, followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected economic saboteurs operating in the area.
During the raid, the troops apprehended six suspects and recovered four trucks, a pumping machine, and assorted pipes and drums allegedly used for illegal bunkering activities.
The suspects and all recovered items have been handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Commending the troops for the successful operation, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, urged personnel to sustain the ongoing offensive against economic sabotage and other criminal activities within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The operation forms part of the Nigerian Army’s continued efforts to curb illegal oil-related activities and strengthen security across Lagos State and other parts of the 81 Division’s operational area.
