THE reconciliation committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the stakeholders of the party in Anambra have affirmed Sen. Emma Anosike as the state Chairman of the party.
The five-man committee Chairman, Dr Benjamin Nwoye and National Deputy Chairman, South, APC, announced this on Tuesday during a stakeholders engagement meeting in Awka.
Nwoye said that the National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja set up the Committee for domestication of peace at the grassroots.
“We agreed that Sen. Emma Anosike remains the Chairman of the APC in Anambra,” he said.
He said that during the peace meeting convened recently in Abuja, it was agreed that the various committees set up by the leadership of Anosike and the factional leader, Mr Ifeanyi Osegbo be dissolved for peace to reign.
He also said that all members of the party in the state would align with the leadership of Anosike, as agreed.
The committee chairman said that the committee and the stakeholders also agreed that the party’s candidate in the 2025 governorship election in the state, Mr Nicholas Ukachukwu and his running mate, Sen. Uche Ekwunife remain the leader and deputy leader of the party.
The committee chairman cautioned members of the party against facing the 2027 general elections with a divided house.
He said that there was the need for the aggrieved members to adhere to the Abuja peace accord, to enable the party win the 2027 presidential election in the state for President Bola Tinubu.
Nwoye further told the party members that peace in the party would ensure that the APC would take over from the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in future elections in the state.
According to him, if we stand together, we can win together.
“If we domesticate peace at the grassroots today, we can build a party ready for tomorrow.
He said that at the end of the meeting, views of aggrieved members would be forwarded to the NWC for all-inclusive resolution and decision that would give every party tendency and faction a pride of place.
“The outcome of these meetings must be seen as a joint decision involving us all,” he said.
The stakeholders agreed that all aggrieved members be carried a long to ensure lasting peace.
Responding, Anosike pledged to give all members of the party a sense of belonging.
He thanked the committee for making peace over the crisis rocking the party.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Osegbo and group had approached the Court to challenge the leadership of Anosike.
The meeting involved Anosike and Osegbo’s factions, elected members, leadership of the party and members from the 21 Local Government Areas in the state among others. (NAN)
