Adamawa court fines ADC governorship candidate N3m for placing his campaign posters on public buildings

The judgment is coming few days after the state Ministry of Environment dragged the ADC candidate to court for violation of the state environment laws  and the Executive oder signed by the Governor which prohibits political parties and their candidates from placing their campaign posters, banners  and other publicity items on government building and public structures in the state. 

Speaking to journalist after the judgement, counsel to the ADC candidate, Barrister Bala Sanga, who was the former Attorney General and Commissioner for justice, said that the case was administrative in nature, saying there was no criminal trial of his client.

He noted that there was no arraignment, plea or conviction that is why they have not entered into any defence,  stressing that the drew the attention of the court to the fact that issues raised were administrative  rather than criminal and the court has agreed with them.

Also reacting, the Director-General of Omarana campaign organization, Elder Mark Wosi, represented by Prof. Jeffreh Barnimas, said they would comply fully with the judgment because they are law abiding citizens and their party respects the rule of law.

He further added that they had already directed their supporters, volunteers and support groups to stop placing posters and banners on public structures and government buildings in compliance with the court judgment, adding that those that were already placed would be removed.
