Hon. Sani A. Shilak, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Mangu North East State Constituency, has pledged inclusive governance and grassroots development following his formal nomination for the 2027 Plateau State House of Assembly election.
Expressing profound gratitude to party leaders and supporters, the APC flag-bearer—who holds the traditional titles of Tafidan Panyam and Fagacin Gindiri—described his emergence as both a privilege and a renewed call to public service.
Reflecting on his political trajectory, Shilak recalled securing the mandate in nine of the constituency’s ten wards during the 2023 general election. Although his tenure, alongside those of several colleagues, was curtailed by a Court of Appeal judgment, he accepted the decision with equanimity, reaffirming his trust in divine sovereignty and the rule of law.
His decision to join the APC, he explained, followed Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s political realignment from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party. Shilak characterised the move as a strategic necessity to continue supporting the governor’s leadership whilst remaining steadfast in his service to Mangu North East.
The APC candidate extended special thanks to Governor Mutfwang, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the party’s leadership at the state, local government, and ward levels for their confidence in his ability to represent the constituency.
In a conciliatory gesture, Shilak urged fellow aspirants to set aside political differences and consolidate the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 polls. Emphasising that the mission transcends personal ambition, he called for collective efforts to improve citizens’ welfare, strengthen communities, and accelerate development across the constituency.
Assuring residents of his commitment to people-oriented legislation, Shilak vowed that the dividends of democracy would reach every community. “My commitment is to provide purposeful representation, attract meaningful development, empower our youth and women, and ensure that no community is left behind,” he stated.
He concluded by appealing for the continued support, prayers, and cooperation of the electorate, expressing optimism for peace, unity, and sustainable prosperity in Mangu North East, Plateau State, and Nigeria at large.
