2026 WAFCON: Aba fans urge Super Falcons to defend title in Morocco

FOOTBALL enthusiasts in Aba have called on the Super Falcons of Nigeria to make the nation proud in the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON in Morocco.

Some of the football fans who spoke with   the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Aba on Monday advised the Falcons to extend their title win to 11.

A football enthusiast, Ijeoma Okoronkwo, said the Super Falcons had dominated the tournament for years and she was not expecting anything less than the trophy.

“Football is deceitful at times, but with determination, void of external distraction, the Falcons will win their 11th title,” she said.

NAN reports that the forthcoming tournament  will be the 14th edition of  Africa’s biggest football tournament for Women.

It will start on July 26  and end on Aug. 16  in Morocco.

Chinedu Oharie, an Enyimba FC supporter, said the Super Falcons needed to up their game  to win, because other teams were seriously coming up.

“We have teams like South Africa, Zambia and Morocco challenging on all fronts and we saw how difficult the last edition final  was for the women.

“It is my desire that Nigeria would keep dominating African football competitions, but we have to keep improving our game to be the best,” Oharie said.

Amarachi Uguru hailed Justine Madugu for inviting professional and energetic players and expressed confidence in  the team wining the tournament.

Uguru said the players invited merited the call-up but urged the coach to give domestic players more slots next time.

“Our domestic players need such exposure to help grow our league and ensure good outing at the club continental competition,”she said.

NAN reports that Nigeria will be up against Egypt, Zambia and debutants Malawi in Group C, with matches to be played in Rabat.(NAN)
