The Zamfara State Government has suspended the Rector of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Sirajo Shinkafi, with immediate effect over allegations of gross administrative misconduct and insubordination.
The government issued the suspension, which takes immediate effect, following concerns raised over the rector’s conduct in office, over allegations of violations of administrative procedures and a failure to comply with directives from the appropriate authorities.
The decision was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government yesterday, Abubakar Nakwada, who said that the action was approved by the state government as part of efforts to uphold discipline, accountability and due process in the administration of public institutions.
Nakwada assured members of the polytechnic community, including staff and students, as well as the general public, that adequate arrangements had been put in place to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted administration of the institution during the period of the rector’s suspension.
“The Government assures the Polytechnic community and the general public that measures have been put in place to ensure the uninterrupted administration of the institution,” the statement said.
The state government reiterated its commitment to promoting transparency, efficiency and adherence to established rules across all government-owned institutions, stressing that public office holders are expected to conduct themselves in line with the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.
