Zamfara Govt. donates five armoured vehicles to police

The Zamfara State Government has donated five armoured vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and support the fight against banditry across the state.

While presenting the vehicles, the Governor of the state, Dauda Lawal, said that the newly acquired vehicles are expected to improve response to criminal activities, and enhance protection for residents in vulnerable communities.

Lawal, who was represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Nura Almajiri, during a ceremony held at the Government House in Gusau on Monday, vehicles will be deployed to strategic locations to support ongoing operations against armed groups and other criminal networks threatening public safety.

The police commissioner, Ahmad Bello, described the donation as a significant intervention that would aid ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity.

“This support will greatly improve our operational effectiveness and strengthen our ability to respond to security challenges across the state,” Bello said.

“The additional equipment will assist security agencies in sustaining pressure on criminal elements and restoring confidence among residents.”

The CP further assured residents that the police command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, stressing that security agencies would continue collaborating to confront emerging threats.

He also appealed to residents to support security agencies by providing credible and timely intelligence that could help prevent attacks and facilitate the arrest of suspects.

The state government noted the donation forms part of broader measures aimed at improving security and creating conditions that would allow farmers and other residents to carry out their activities without fear.

Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to security, the state government pledged continued support for security agencies, noting that maintaining peace and protecting residents remain key priorities of the Lawal administration.
