“You’re not ready” — RCCG replies man asking pastor Adeboye to protest against Tinubu like he did against Jonathan

As criticism over Nigeria’s insecurity and economic hardship continues, a social media exchange between the leadership of the Redeemed Christian Church of God RCCG and an X user identified as M.E. Bello has drawn attention online.

The debate followed renewed discussions about the role of religious leaders in national issues.

Some Nigerians had questioned why RCCG General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, was seen participating in public activities during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan but has largely called for prayers under President Bola Tinubu.

Dispute Over Old Video

In response to the criticism, RCCG shared old video clips on social media, insisting that Adeboye did not participate in any protest against Jonathan’s administration.

The church maintained that the event in question was a prayer walk rather than a protest.

Reacting to the post, Bello argued that the event took place at the RCCG Redemption Camp. However, the church disputed the claim, stating that the prayer walk was held in Ebute Metta, Lagos.

Heated Exchange on Social Media

Responding to RCCG’s clarification, Bello wrote: “Now that I have your attention, church social media handler; Has the G.O grown too old now to lead another protest or it’s just table manners?”

The church swiftly replied: “An 84-year-old man should go lead a protest for your own future?….You are not ready.”

Bello then fired back, accusing the church leader of contributing to voter apathy through some of his public comments.

“Well said then! Kindly, help advise our amiable father-in-the-Lord to stop creating apathy!

“Last election, he said God had not told him there would be an election. This one again, he’s said to have said that the same God has chosen who will win. That is creating voter apathy.”
