Yaya Bauchi Tongo (18 June 1963 – 12 June 2026) was a Nigerian businessman and politician who served in the House of Representatives as the representative for the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye seat.
The Gombe Representative died on Friday June 12th in Abuja Hospital after a brief illness.
Yaya Bauchi Tongo Biography
Yaya Bauchi Tongo was born on June 18, 1963, in Funakaye Local Government Area, Gombe State. He attended elementary and senior schools, gaining the First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) and Senior School Certificate (SSCE) respectively. He subsequently went to college and graduated with a B.Tech. in business management.
Career
Tongo served as chairman of the Funakaye Local Government Council and special adviser to the Gombe State Government. He was later chosen to serve in the Gombe State House of Assembly.
In the 2023 general election, he was elected to the House of Representatives from Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye constituency.
Personal Life
Yaya Bauchi Tongo was happily married with children. While his wives’ names are not widely known in the media, official sympathy letters state that he is survived by spouses and a large family.
Two of his children, together with a close friend, were there at Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja during his dying hours to greet well-wishers and leaders such as Prof. Isa Pantami.
