DAMATURU, Yobe State – Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the appointment of Alhaji Yerima Ibn-Mahmud as the new Emir of Ngazargamu, the historic traditional stool in Yobe State.
The appointment, announced on Friday by the Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Mohammed Goje, fills the vacancy left by the late Emir, Alhaji Tijjani Ibn-Saleh, who died in Egypt following a protracted illness.
Until his new role, Ibn-Mahmud held the title of Turakin Ngazargamu for 16 years. He has also served as a member of the State House of Assembly, a member of the State Executive Council, and the Commissioner for Livestock Development.
Governor Buni congratulated the new emir and urged him to use his extensive experience to foster unity, peaceful coexistence, and economic growth within the emirate, Yobe State, and Nigeria at large.
The governor similarly called on the people of the emirate to offer their full support to Ibn-Mahmud, enabling him to discharge his duties diligently, effectively, and efficiently for the collective peace, unity, and prosperity of the region. (NAN)
