Nigerian activist and social media personality VeryDarkMan, popularly known as VDM, has called for a nationwide boycott of schools following the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State.
In a viral video shared online, the content creator criticised what he described as Nigerians’ tendency to quickly move on from serious national tragedies.

According to him, many people see that attitude as resilience, but he believes it has become harmful because major issues are often forgotten before justice or solutions are achieved.
“Nigerians are cursed with one thing. They think it’s a blessing, but it’s a curse — they know how to move on quickly,” he said.
VDM urged public school teachers across the country to stand in solidarity with the abducted victims by refusing to resume work until those in captivity are released.
He also appealed to parents to temporarily keep their children at home as a form of protest and awareness.
“As a public school teacher, this is a time to show solidarity with the teachers in captivity by not going to work,” he stated.
The activist argued that a coordinated action involving teachers and parents would place greater pressure on authorities and draw wider attention to the insecurity affecting schools and communities.
“Please, parents, stop your children from going to school in solidarity with the little kids that are in captivity,” he added.
His comments come amid growing public concern over insecurity, kidnappings, and attacks on schools in different parts of Nigeria, with several public figures recently calling for stronger government action and improved protection for citizens.
