Former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has stated that insurgency in the nation is gradually getting closer to government houses.

He was speaking on the current surge in insecurity bedevilling the countlry.
The former governor warned that the government needs to re-strategise before the situation gets out of hand.
“Terrorists are gradually getting closer to Government Houses. The Jihadists are not far from us. They are already at our borders.
“We must be interested in how to salvage that because of our own national interest. The Jihadists are in Benin Republic, Togo and Burkina Faso.
“They are not far from us. That’s why we need to re-strategise and ensure that our foreign relations is more robust,” Fayemi said.
2. Police Debunk Circulating List Of Suspects Arrested Over Oyo State Kidnappings
The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has denied any links with a trending list of suspects said to have been arrested in connection with the recent abduction incident in Ahoro-Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area.
The Police also described as fake the publication claiming to contain operational details of the ongoing investigation into the recent abduction incident.
The Police Command, in a statement on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the publication, which purportedly revealed the identities of suspects, communication interception records and financial transactions connected to the case, did not originate from the police or any authorised security agency.
It added that the publication is false, speculative and capable of undermining security operations.
According to the Command, the report contained several unverified claims and technical assertions that were neither issued nor endorsed by security authorities handling the investigation.
He stressed that investigations into the abduction remain ongoing and are being conducted through intelligence-led operations, making it necessary to protect sensitive information from public disclosure.
The Police PRO explained that operational details, identities of suspects, investigative leads and financial intelligence related to the case are classified to prevent any compromise of ongoing efforts and to facilitate the successful arrest of those responsible.

However, in a statement on Friday, George argued that Adeboye ought to direct his advice to President Bola Tinubu rather than the Service Chiefs.
The elder statesman asserted that Tinubu should be responsible for keeping the nation safe, not the service chiefs.
George advised Tinubu to call a meeting of retired security chiefs and intelligence experts on the way forward.

Speaking via a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, the former Vice President expressed particular disappointment that many of the activities drawing public criticism were personally anchored by the First Lady.
Atiku said that nearly three weeks after schoolchildren and teachers were abducted in Oyo State on May 15, 2026, Nigerians were still waiting for their safe return while the Federal Government appeared “more preoccupied with political activities than with the anguish of desperate families whose loved ones remain in captivity.”
He condemned what he described as the shocking insensitivity of the Tinubu administration to the plight of the abducted pupils, teachers, their traumatised families, and indeed the entire nation.

The former Governor of Anambra State claimed that more school abductions have been recorded in the three years of the administration of President Bola Tinubu than what the country experienced in the eight years of the Muhammadu Buhari government.

The Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, has insisted that his signature on the document used to endorse Ikenga Ugochinyere for the position of Minority Leader was forged.
Agbese, in a statement on Friday, explained that his signature was appended to a document for a different purpose but was later used without his authorisation to back Ugochinyere’s bid for the minority leadership position.
KeepLoss reports that the fresh clarification follows the heated exchange between Agbese and Ugochinyere on the floor of the House on Thursday over the same issue.
The dispute began when Agbese raised a matter of personal privilege, accusing Ugochinyere of using his signature without authorisation in a document purportedly nominating him for the office of minority leader.
Agbese told the House that he was shocked to discover a document circulating online bearing his name and signature in support of Ugochinyere’s bid for the opposition leadership position.
According to him, while he had held discussions with several lawmakers, including Ugochinyere, on issues concerning the welfare of minority lawmakers and constituency projects, he never endorsed any nomination document.
In the statement on Friday, Agbese, who represents Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State, said his position remained unchanged following a presentation he made on the floor of the House on Thursday under Order 6 Rule 2.
7. ‘I Moved From Frying Pan To Hell Fire’ – Aspirant Laments For Dumping APC For NDC
A senatorial aspirant of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Edo South, Ehiozuwa Agbonayinwa, has said he regrets leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the NDC.
Agbonayinwa, a former member of the House of Representatives, said his move to the NDC had become from frying pan to hellfire.

9. Fresh Update Emerges On Blessing CEO’s ₦36 Million Fraud Case
Justice D.I. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has reserved ruling on the bail application filed by social media influencer and relationship therapist, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO.
KeepLoss reports that the judge fixed June 9, 2026, to deliver the ruling after hearing submissions from both the prosecution and defence on Friday.
Blessing CEO is facing trial on a two-count charge brought against her by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The charges border on alleged obtaining by false pretence and stealing involving ₦36 million.
The case stems from allegations that the defendant obtained ₦36 million from a petitioner under the claim that she could secure the lease of a six-bedroom detached duplex located on Tunbosun Osobu Street, off Kuboye Road, Lekki, Lagos.
The EFCC alleged that the representation was false and that the money was subsequently converted for personal use.
At an earlier court session, defence counsel, P.I. Nwafor, informed the court that his client had already refunded ₦24 million to the petitioner.
He requested time for discussions aimed at settling the outstanding balance and resolving the dispute.
The prosecution, however, maintained that any arrangement between the defendant and the petitioner would not affect the criminal proceedings before the court, arguing that the Federal Government remains the complainant in the matter.
Justice Dipeolu ruled that such discussions could continue alongside the court process and directed that the defendant take her plea.
The charges against Blessing CEO include allegations that between July 14 and July 17, 2024, she obtained ₦36 million from Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye under the pretext of securing a property lease in Lekki.
The anti-graft agency also accused her of fraudulently converting the money to her own use.
When the charges were read in court, Blessing CEO pleaded not guilty.
Following her plea, the prosecution requested a trial date and sought an order remanding her pending the hearing of the case.

Nigerian rapper Tobechukwu Melvin Ejiofor, also known as Illbliss, has called for better acceptance of Nigerians living outside their home states, saying people should stop making harsh comments against non-indigenes.

Illbliss pointed to the role of Igbo people in Lagos, saying they are deeply involved in trade and business. He said they have contributed a lot to the growth of the state’s economy even though they are not originally from there.
He noted that without their activities in commerce and other sectors, the city’s economic life would be very different.
The rapper also expressed concern that tribal and religious divisions are still common in Nigeria despite many years of people living together in the same country.
According to him, this ongoing division makes it hard for people to fully accept one another.
