The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has strengthened its collaboration with key security agencies to address the growing threat of vandalism and sabotage targeting the nation’s power transmission infrastructure.
TCN hosted a strategic meeting at its corporate headquarters with representatives of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to enhance efforts aimed at safeguarding critical electricity transmission assets across the country.
The meeting, held yesterday, focused on improving inter-agency cooperation, strengthening information sharing, and developing more effective strategies to prevent and respond to incidents of vandalism affecting transmission facilities nationwide.
According to TCN, the engagement underscores the commitment of stakeholders to work collectively to protect the nation’s power infrastructure and ensure the stability of electricity supply.
The company noted that repeated attacks on transmission facilities continue to pose significant challenges to the power sector, often leading to disruptions in electricity transmission and increased operational costs.
Participants at the meeting emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among relevant agencies, timely intelligence sharing, and coordinated responses to threats against critical national assets.
TCN reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with security agencies and other stakeholders to secure transmission infrastructure and support the delivery of reliable electricity to Nigerians.
