“Some of you have sold your conscience to politicians” – Solomon Buchi blasts Adeyinka Alaseyori over Oyo kidnapping comments
Media personality Solomon Buchi has criticized gospel singer Adeyinka Alaseyori over her remarks concerning the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
Alaseyori had urged Nigerians to pray for the safe return of the abducted victims, stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the vice president and security agencies were working to secure their release.
Reacting to her viral video, Buchi accused some gospel ministers and pastors of defending politicians while Nigerians continue to suffer from insecurity across the country.
“Just because you’ve added some mellow music in the background of what you’re saying does not mean that you’re making sense. It doesn’t mean that you know what you’re saying. Some of you gospel ministers and even pastors are sellouts. You’ve sold your conscience to politicians,” he said.
Buchi argued that the continued abduction of children and worsening insecurity in the country cannot be solved by prayer alone, stressing that leaders must be held accountable for their responsibilities.
While maintaining that he is a Christian who believes in prayer, he insisted that prayer should not replace practical action, governance and policy implementation.
“I am a Christian. I believe in prayers. But you see, prayers will not do for us what God has given us the ability to do for ourselves.
“We’ve been praying for Nigeria since I was a child. Over 60 years of independence, we’re still praying for Nigeria. Should it not be our cue to do something else while we’re praying in the background?” he added.
The exchange comes amid public outrage over the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, with many Nigerians demanding urgent action to secure the victims’ release.
