WIFE of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, on Sunday, described blood donation as one of the easiest and most impactful ways to show humanity.
In a message on Sunday to mark the 2026 World Blood Donor Day, she called on healthy, eligible people to donate regularly to save lives.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Works Blood Donor Day is marked every June 14, to raise awareness on blood donation and to honour voluntary donors.
The 2026 theme is: “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.”
Dr. Soludo praised donors for their selflessness and their role in strengthening healthcare.
“As we mark World Blood Donor Day, we celebrate selfless individuals who give a part of themselves to save the lives of others.
“Blood donation remains one of the simplest yet most powerful acts of compassion and humanity,” she said.
She stressed that regular donation from healthy individuals is key to maintaining a safe, steady blood supply.
According to her, donating blood does more than save lives, it builds a stronger health system with ready support when emergencies hit.
“Together, we can build a culture of compassion, solidarity and shared responsibility for one another’s well-being.
“A single donation can save multiple lives, and there can be no greater gift than the gift of life,” she said.(NAN)
