A single mother is living with regret after a series of personal decisions led to the loss of financial support, a failed relationship, and mounting economic challenges.
According to an account shared online, the woman, who was in her late 30s, had been in a relationship with a divorced man in his 60s who provided substantial support for her and her child.
The man rented and furnished an apartment for her, paid school fees, and developed a close relationship with her child, including helping with school runs and other parental responsibilities.
Desire for marriage changes relationship
Despite the stability of the arrangement, the woman wanted marriage and a long-term commitment.
The older man, however, was said to have made it clear that he was not interested in marriage and did not want more children, preferring to maintain the relationship without formal commitments.
The situation changed when the woman became acquainted with another man living abroad who promised marriage and a future together.
According to the account, she chose to pursue the new relationship despite warnings from the older man.
Challenges follow new relationship
The overseas-based man later visited Nigeria, and the relationship resulted in a pregnancy. The woman carried the pregnancy to term and gave birth.
However, tragedy struck when the child developed health complications and died a few months later.
The account further stated that the overseas-based man eventually cut off communication, stopped responding to calls, and blocked her.
Meanwhile, the older man had moved on with his life and ended contact with both the woman and the child he had previously supported for more than two years.
Unable to maintain the lifestyle she once enjoyed, the woman struggled with rent and school fees.
