The enduring legacy of former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, was celebrated on Saturday as senior police officers, family members, friends, and associates gathered to mark his 70th posthumous birthday remembrance.
The solemn but dignified event brought together some of the most respected figures within Nigeria’s policing community, including the current Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and his wife, Olufumilola Mutiat Disu, who joined others in paying tribute to the late police chief’s remarkable contributions to national security and institutional reforms.
Also present at the gathering were retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Jonathan Towuru, retired Commissioner of Police Fatai Owoseni, Commissioner of Police Bolo Etete, as well as several serving and retired senior police officers, members of the Arase family, and close associates.
The event provided an opportunity for attendees to reflect on the life, career, and enduring impact of the late police administrator, whose service to the nation left an indelible mark on the Nigeria Police Force.
Speakers at the remembrance recounted Arase’s distinguished journey through the ranks of the police hierarchy, culminating in his appointment as the 18th Indigenous Inspector-General of Police.

Arase, who held the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) and the Nigeria Police Medal (NPM), served as Inspector-General of Police from 2015 to 2016. Following his retirement, he remained actively engaged in national security discourse, governance, and public policy discussions until his passing.
