Osun police orders parties to suspend activities across Oriade LG

The Osun State Police Command has advised all political parties, candidates and supporters to suspend planned political gatherings, rallies, campaigns and processions in Oriade Local Government Area.

The command said the directive followed credible intelligence reports and security concerns within the local government area, which prompted the Commissioner of Police to recommend the postponement of all political activities to a later date.

The development comes ahead of a planned political rally by the Accord Party scheduled to hold in Ijebu-Jesa, the headquarters of the local government.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said the measure was taken to prevent any possible breach of peace and ensure public safety.

The statement said the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, advised all political parties to postpone their planned political gatherings, rallies, campaigns and processions scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, within Oriade Local Government Area to a new date.

The Commissioner of Police also directed that all other political-related activities within the local government area be suspended pending further notice as the command seeks to maintain law and order.

The statement added that all political stakeholders are expected to comply with the advisory in the interest of peace, public safety and the maintenance of law and order.
