The Osun State APC Governorship Campaign Council has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to clarify the deployment of personnel of the Osun Amotekun Corps and the utilisation of security funds under his administration.
The opposition campaign body raised concerns over reports that some Amotekun operatives were deployed to guard a private energy facility in Ondo State, questioning the rationale behind assigning state security personnel to duties outside Osun State at a time when communities within the state are reportedly facing security challenges.
In a statement issued on Monday and signed by the council’s Director-General, Oluwole Oke, the APC campaign council alleged that several Amotekun operatives were stationed at Pacific Energy Company in Omotosho Village along the Benin–Ore Road in Ondo State.
Oke described the development as disturbing and unacceptable, arguing that personnel recruited, trained, and funded with Osun State resources should not be diverted from their primary responsibility of safeguarding lives and property within the state to provide security for a private business outside its jurisdiction.
The council also referenced the reported death of an Amotekun operative, Abdullahi Adedeji, who reportedly died after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle accident while travelling to Ondo State for an assignment, noting that the officer had earlier been involved in a crash in April 2026 while en route to his duty post.
The APC campaign council further questioned the management of security funds by the state government, alleging that Governor Adeleke had accessed about ₦14.9 billion in security votes.
Oke argued that despite the expenditure, there had been no corresponding improvement in visible security infrastructure, claiming that no bicycles or vehicles had been provided for security agencies in the state despite the substantial funds at their disposal.
