The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has held a productive meeting with ,President of San José State University (SJSU), USA, Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson at a high-level engagement focused on strengthening educational, technological, and cultural ties between Nigeria and the United States.
A key highlight of the discussions was the proposed Silicon Valley Tech Bridge initiative, a specialised summer programme at San José State University aimed at immersing young Nigerians in cutting-edge fields such as Artificial Intelligence, semiconductors, and medical devices.
The programme will combine rigorous academic coursework with practical industry exposure at leading tech companies including Adobe, LinkedIn, and Jabil, particularly during Black Engineer Week, while providing valuable networking opportunities with the Nigerian diaspora community.
The two leaders also explored the possibility of a Fulbright Leadership Exchange programme to deepen academic and professional collaboration, alongside initiatives featuring cultural murals to celebrate and promote Nigerian heritage within the university community.
The strategic partnership reflects NIDCOM’s ongoing commitment to harnessing diaspora networks, building human capital, and creating sustainable bridges between Nigeria and global centres of excellency.
