Operatives of the Lagos State Taskforce have arrested 16 suspected miscreants during a clearance operation at the 1004 Housing Estate, as part of ongoing efforts to enforce public order and curb unlawful activities in the area.
The suspects, comprising 12 males and four females, were apprehended during an early morning raid conducted by the enforcement team.
Speaking on the development on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said the operation formed part of sustained enforcement efforts by the state government to restore sanity in public spaces and ensure strict compliance with environmental and safety regulations across Lagos.
He explained that the clearance exercise targeted individuals allegedly engaging in disruptive activities and other behaviours considered to be in breach of existing state laws within the estate and its environs.
Wahab added that all persons apprehended during the operation would be subjected to proper investigation and subsequently prosecuted in line with the extant laws of Lagos State.
The Commissioner reiterated that the government remains committed to upholding due process, stressing that the enforcement actions were not arbitrary but guided by legal frameworks designed to protect residents and maintain order.
According to the statement, “During an early morning clearance operation at 1004 Housing Estate, operatives apprehended a total of sixteen suspected miscreants comprising four females and twelve males.
“The exercise was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order, enhance public safety, and rid the area of criminal elements and other undesirable activities.”
