The Police Command has recovered 100 rustled castle following an intervention of it’s officers in Kano State.
The operatives, while informing that a suspect was apprehended, stated that the enforcement was carried after receiving an intelligence of rs deadly attack by bandits who reportedly fired gunshots sporadically.
The Police Public Relations, Saliu Afusat, on Wednesday, confirmed that the incident occurred in the early hours of 2:49 am in Ayegunle community.
The assault left several residents and travellers abducted, while others were killed or injured.
Commissioner of Police, CNaziru Kankarofi, said that the policemen were with the Nigerian Army, DSS, Vigilante Service, Forest Guards, Civilian Joint Task Force, in the encounter.
Ksnkarofi mentioned that the gunmen reportedly targeted the traditional ruler of Ayegunle, Oba Sunday Omodamori, but failed to abduct him, but later invaded homes, kidnapped three residents, and killed one James Obayomi while he attempted to escape.
The attackers also blocked the Kabba–Obajana highway, shooting motorists, killing a passenger, and abducting dozens of travellers.
Police said sustained intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of one Ibrahim, a core member of Batijo’s gang, who confessed and identified other members.
“The painstaking investigation subsequently led to the recovery of 100 rustled cattle abandoned by the fleeing criminals,” Afusat added.
CP Kankarofi, who visited Ayegunle with senior security officials, assured residents that “security agencies remain committed to rescuing all abducted victims and bringing the perpetrators to justice.”
He praised the collaboration among agencies and urged citizens to remain vigilant and provide timely information to aid ongoing operations.
