Brazilian footballer, Thiago Silva, has joined Brazilian club, Fluminense, to bolster the club’s defensive unit in chase for continental qualification and silverware.
Fluminense notified that the veteran defender signed a deal to return at the club for the fourth time and until December 2026, and is set to begin training with the side in readiness to make his second debut as they aim to challenge for major honours in South American football.
”What seemed like a goodbye was, in fact, a see you later,” reads a statement from Fluminense after the actualization of the deal on Tuesday.
”Because some stories never truly end, Thiago Silva is back in Fluminense. The monster has agreed to return and signed a contract with the club until December 2026,” it added.
Across his three earlier spells at the outfit, the UEFA Champions League winner with Chelsea, had over 212 appearances scoring 19 goals, establishing himself as one of the most important players for the Tricolor.
Silva is expected to integrate quickly into the squad once he resumes training to help his new club currently siting third in the Brasileiro Serie A, ten points behind leaders Palmeiras after 18 matches. Following the World Cup break, they will face Bragantino at the Maracana on July 18.
