The Katsina State government has imposed a ban on sale, purchase of petroleum products in jerry cans in Matawu and Muzawa areas in an effort to curb terrorism in the area.
The government, under the administration of Governor Dikko Radda, handed the ruling which also include transportation and storage of the product in jerry cans, disclosed that the new measure in aimed at disrupting bandit activities and strengthening security measures across communities.
The directive, made public on Tuesday through a statement also involve a restriction of all Point of Sale (POS) businesses operating in the affected local government areas be to shut down immediately were announced to form part of ongoing efforts to cut off supplies that could aid the operations of bandit groups.
Commercial phone charging centres in the same locations have also been directed to cease operations, and also a total prohibition on the use of motorcycles in the affected councils, a move the government said will help restrict the movement of bandits and their collaborators.
Residents have also been directed to comply fully with all security regulations introduced by the state government, the state government urging members of the public to support security agencies by providing credible intelligence that could assist ongoing operations against criminal elements.
The government further warned that the directives would be strictly enforced, stressing that anyone found violating the executive order would face legal consequences without exception.
