A member of the House of Representatives representing Alimosho Federal Constituency, Ganiyu Ayuba, popularly called Mayor K.K, has denied reports alleging that he resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his defeat in the party’s primary election.
The lawmaker described as “false, fraudulent, and misleading” the resignation letter being widely shared online, claiming he had dumped the ruling party for another political platform after losing the APC ticket to former council chairman, Olabisi Adebajo.
In a statement issued yesterday, Ayuba insisted that he remains a loyal and committed member of the APC and has neither resigned from the party nor initiated discussions to join any other political party.
“My attention has been drawn to a publication circulating on social media alleging that I have resigned my membership of the All Progressives Congress and joined another political party,” he said.
“I wish to state unequivocally that the purported resignation letter being circulated is entirely false, fraudulent, and did not emanate from me.”
The federal lawmaker pointed to several inconsistencies in the document, noting that the signature on the letter was not his, the ward mentioned was not his political ward, and the address contained in the document was not that of his constituency office.
He also questioned the authenticity of the document based on what he described as discrepancies in the official markings and presentation associated with his office.
Ayuba dismissed suggestions that recent political developments, including the APC primary election, could have prompted his departure from the party, maintaining that there had been no change in his political allegiance.
According to him, those behind the publication were seeking to create confusion among Alimosho party members, supporters, and constituents.
“The publication is clearly the handiwork of mischief makers whose sole intention is to mislead the public, create unnecessary political tension and sow confusion among my supporters and constituents,” he stated.
The lawmaker urged members of the public, party faithful, and the media to disregard the report and rely only on information released through his verified and official communication channels.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Alimosho Federal Constituency and supporting the programmes and objectives of the APC.
“I remain steadfast in my commitment to serving the good people of Alimosho Federal Constituency and to advancing the ideals and objectives of our great party, the All Progressives Congress,” he said.
The denial comes amid heightened political activities in Lagos State following the conclusion of party primaries ahead of the next electoral cycle, with speculation surrounding the future political plans of several aspirants who were unsuccessful in securing party tickets.
