Gunmen kill one, abduct others in Kwara community attack

Unknown gunmen invaded the Sodo/Sawmill area of Lafiagi in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing a resident and abducting several others during a violent attack.

The victim, identified as Ndagba, was shot dead while attempting to flee the community before the arrival of security operatives.

According to residents, the gunmen, suspected to be bandits, initially targeted a specific individual but were unable to find him at his residence.

After confirming that their target was not at home, the attackers abducted members of his family before moving through the settlement.

A community source said the assailants arrived at night and carried out a coordinated operation that left several families in distress.

“The gunmen appeared to have come for a specific person, but when they could not locate him, they took away some of his relatives,” the source said.

“As they were leaving, they noticed light from Ndagba’s house. They moved toward the building, opened fire on him and subsequently abducted one of his relatives,” the resident added.

Meanwhile, efforts to obtain an official response from the Kwara State Police Command were unsuccessful, as calls and messages sent to the spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, were not answered as of the time of filing this report.
