Gunmen abducts council worker from Ondo community

Suspected gunmen have abducted an official of Akure North Local Government, Gbenga Sanni, after invading his residence in the Ilu-Abo community of Akure, Ondo State.

It was gathered that the attackers emerged from a nearby bush and whisked the victim away to an unknown destination while his wife and two children were inside the house.

Sources said Sanni, an indigene of Akunu-Akoko in Akoko North-West Local Government Area, had just returned home when the assailants, said to be three in number, struck.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Abayomi, said operatives and tactical teams had been deployed to the area to secure the victim’s release and apprehend the perpetrators.
