Four cult, armed robbery suspects risk jail in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested four suspects over allegations of cultism and armed robbery and other criminal activities.

The security agency informed that the arrestees, Farouq Ariyo, Yusuf Tajudeen, Adebayo Awosemo and Salawu Sarafa, were nabbed after it received an intelligence stating that the gang was terrorizing residents in the state at different locations, carrying out the unlawful acts, which was followed by a deployment of its officers at the scene leading to their arrest and lawful detention for adequate prosecution.

The Command held that the enforcement which happened at about 6am, on Friday, led to a recovery of a locally made pistol and other harmful objects, adding that the gang would be arraigned to court after completion of investigation.

It urged the residents to continue providing credible information that will aid arrests and necessary sanction on lawbreakers, reassuring the public of its stand to alleviate all manners of crimes and ensuring that all transgressors are brought to book.

It warned the inhabitants, particularly youths, to stay away from cultism, armed robbery and all other vices, urging them to imbibe lawful habits and strife to become peace ambassadors to contribute to better development of the state.
