FIFA, football’s global governing body, on Wednesday suspended the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) with immediate effect, according to an official statement.
Following the suspension, Nepal’s national teams will no longer be eligible to participate in competitions organized by FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
FIFA also barred ANFA, its members, and officials from taking part in FIFA and AFC development programmes, training courses, and other capacity-building activities.
In a statement issued yesterday, the world football body said the decision was taken by the Bureau of the Council on 24 June 2026 in line with Article 16 of the FIFA Statutes, adding that ANFA had been suspended until further notice.
As a result, ANFA has lost all membership rights under Article 13 of the FIFA Statutes, meaning its national and club teams are no longer permitted to compete in international fixtures until the suspension is lifted.
FIFA further noted that neither ANFA nor its officials or members are allowed to engage in any sporting contact or benefit from FIFA or AFC programmes during the period of suspension.
The governing body also stated that the sanction may be lifted at any time by the Bureau of the Council or the FIFA Council before the next FIFA Congress, if the issues leading to the suspension are resolved.
