The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed the Lagos office of PWAN MAX Property and Business Solutions Ltd over alleged non-compliance with regulatory directives arising from consumer complaints involving unallocated plots of land.
The enforcement action, carried out on Monday, followed the company’s alleged failure to comply with a Compliance Notice issued under Section 150 of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018.
The Commission said the action became necessary after the expiration of the compliance timeline without the company addressing the identified breaches.
FCCPC’s South-West Zonal Coordinator, Olubunmi Otti, explained that the Compliance Notice had clearly outlined the nature of the violations, required remedial actions, the timeline for compliance, and the consequences of failure to comply.
She said the company’s continued non-compliance left the Commission with no option but to invoke its statutory powers, adding that the seal on the premises would remain in place until all violations are adequately addressed.
Otti also disclosed that the Commission is currently investigating additional petitions against the company relating to land transactions and alleged failure to allocate purchased properties.
The FCCPC further stated that affected consumers may be entitled to refunds, while warning that continued violation of its directives could attract prosecution.
Reaffirming its position, the Commission said it remains committed to protecting consumers from exploitation, particularly in the real estate sector, and vowed that erring companies would continue to face appropriate sanctions in line with the law.
