Ekiti varsity registrar candidate dies during selection test

A tragic incident occurred at Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, as one of the candidates in the ongoing selection process for the position of Registrar, Solomon Afolabi, reportedly slumped and died during an aptitude test conducted as part of the exercise.

Sources within the university said the incident happened while the test was ongoing, when Afolabi, a Deputy Registrar at the institution, suddenly cried out in distress, drawing the attention of other candidates and officials present at the venue.

He was immediately attended to and rushed to the university’s health centre for urgent medical intervention, where medical personnel reportedly made efforts to stabilise him, but he was later confirmed dead.

As gathered, the incident, which occurred yesterday, has thrown the university community into shock, particularly as colleagues and witnesses described the circumstances as unusual, noting that he had appeared fine before suddenly raising an alarm moments before collapsing.

A staff member who spoke anonymously described Dr. Afolabi as one of the leading contenders for the Registrar position before the incident.

Meanwhile, other candidates still in the ongoing exercise include Dr. Babatola J.E.T. and Mrs. Adeojo R.T.B., as the process continues despite the tragic development.

The university management had yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
