A Nigeria-based doctor residing in Canada, identified as Zo, has publicly apologised to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), admitting that he once doubted the separatist leader but has since had a change of heart.
In his statement which has been making rounds on social media, the doctor confessed that he initially withheld his support from IPOB due to what he considered the group’s overly aggressive approach, and did not believe in Kanu’s message at the time.
However, after revisiting several of Kanu’s older videos, he said he came to the realisation that the activist had remarkably predicted many of the challenges Nigeria is currently facing, long before they unfolded.
He further drew comparisons with other regional figures, noting that Sunday Igboho, the Yoruba rights activist, has grown into a widely respected voice among the Yoruba people, and that even former Bøko Haram members have been reintegrated into society.
Against that backdrop, he expressed deep sadness that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu remains behind bars in Nigeria, describing the situation as deeply troubling.
The doctor concluded by expressing regret for not believing in Kanu’s vision earlier, and used the opportunity to tender a sincere apology to both the IPOB leader and his followers.
