A commercial driver identified as Ibrahim Abubakar has been killed by a gang of bandits during an attack on a community in Kaduna state.
Abubakar was said to be transporting charcoal to a market for delivery when the terrorists attacked and killed him, causing grief to residents in the area.
A security source, commenting on the incident which happened on Friday at Gwari-Kaduna road, disclosed that the casualty was also robbed off money and other properties found with him, adding that.efforts were ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
Meanwhile, residents and travellers have continued to express concerns over safety on the highway, citing frequent reports of attacks by armed groups operating in parts of the area, while motorists have reportedly avoid certain sections of the road or travel in groups due to fears of possible ambushes.
They said that the incident once again demonstrates the need for sustained security measures to protect innocent citizens and secure critical transportation corridors.
Neither the Kaduna state police command nor the state government has issued an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
However, further details are expected to emerge as investigations continue.
