Arsenal signs Ecuadorian defender to aid consecutive EPL title wins

Premier League club, Arsenal, have signed Ecuadorian defender, Piero Hincapie, ahead of the 2026/27 in their target to win back-to-back league titles after their success last season.

The London based side announced that Hincapie, who initially joined the team in a loan move from Bayern Leverkusen in a loan move during the 2025/26 campaign, penned a £34 million contract for a permanent transition to the English club ahead of next season.

”We are delighted to have activated the option to make Piero Hincapie’s transfer to us permanent from July 1,” reads Arsenal statement after completion of the deal on Thursday.

”Everyone at the club is delighted to welcome Piero back with us.”

”The conditions for the purchase option were met and defender Hincapie will therefore continue his career with the London club in the Premier League in coming years,” Leverkusen posted on its website to confirm the player’s exit.

The 24-year-old made 39 appearances in all competitions in Gunner’s title win in May, helping the side record the fewest conceded goals in the last three Premier League seasons.
