Troops of the Fansan Yamma military have attacked a gang of terrorists in Kebbi State and recovered explosives, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, two motorcycles and other combat items from the insurgent group following an enforcement carried out to curb terrorism in the area.
The army outfit recovered the items from the fleeing terrorists stating that they are believed to have been left behind by the fleeing suspects who fled the scene after a fierce duel between the soldiers and Lakurawa terrorists in an operation aimed at dealing a significant blow to the group’s operational capacity and disrupted its activities in the area.
The operation was conducted by troops of the 8 Division under Sector 2 around Dogon Daji in Dandi Local Government Area which led to the terrorists overwhelmed by the troops’ superior firepower and abandoned several dangerous items while escaping from the scene.
The army, on Monday, disclosed that no casualties were recorded among the troops during the operation, describing the mission as another success in ongoing efforts to weaken criminal networks operating across the region.
They added that sustained offensive actions have continued to disrupt the logistics and movement of criminal elements, reassuring its commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorist and bandit networks until they are completely neutralised,” the report stated.
Meanwhile, the military report said additional operations are ongoing to track down the fleeing terrorists and consolidate the gains achieved during the clearance mission.
