Army Cyber Warfare Unit Welcomes New Commander
The Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command (NACWC) has welcomed a new Commander following a formal handing and taking over ceremony held at its headquarters in Giri, Abuja.
The outgoing Commander, Kennedy Osemwengie, officially handed over leadership of the Command to Emmanuel Soledayo Mustapha during the ceremony on Friday.
In his farewell remarks, Osemwengie expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, officers, soldiers, and civilian staff of the Command for their support throughout his tenure. He noted that the Command recorded notable progress in strengthening the Nigerian Army’s cyber defence capabilities, improving operational readiness, and expanding strategic partnerships to address emerging cyber threats.
He urged personnel to remain committed to professionalism, innovation, and excellence in order to sustain the gains achieved under his leadership.
Taking over as the 9th Commander of the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command, Mustapha thanked the Chief of Army Staff for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor.
He emphasized the growing importance of cyberspace in modern military operations, stressing the need to continuously strengthen the Army’s capacity to protect its digital infrastructure and national security interests.
Mustapha also called on officers, soldiers, and civilian staff of the Command to remain disciplined, dedicated, and united in fulfilling the Command’s mandate.
The ceremony featured the signing of handing and taking over notes, the formal presentation of the Command insignia, the transfer of the Command flag, and the hoisting of a new flag to signify the change of leadership.
The Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the Army’s digital ecosystem and enhancing its resilience against evolving cyber threats.
