A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Emmanuel Abari, popularly known as Ajiyan Gobe, has resigned from the party, citing alleged irregularities and a lack of internal democracy in the recently concluded primaries.
Abari announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the APC chairman of Galadima Ward in Doma Local Government Area, stating that the decision takes immediate effect.
In the letter, obtained on Monday, the former House of Assembly aspirant said he arrived at the decision after extensive consultations with his supporters, community leaders, and political associates following what he described as widespread irregularities that marred the party’s primary election.
He expressed appreciation to the APC for the support extended to him over the years, despite the challenges he encountered during the primary process, which eventually led to his withdrawal from the race for the Doma North State Constituency seat.
Abari alleged that the absence of a level playing field and the failure of the party leadership to uphold democratic principles and internal democracy had eroded his confidence in the APC.
He further stated that he could no longer remain part of a system he described as unfair, non-inclusive, and lacking in transparency, insisting that his decision was guided by his political convictions and the interests of his supporters.
