Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has criticised the recent comments made by the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, regarding the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Yesufu shared her reaction on her verified X account on Thursday, saying Dickson’s statements appeared as though he was competing with Obi rather than supporting the party’s presidential ambition.
Her comments followed Dickson’s television interview, where he defended the NDC leadership and responded to concerns raised by some supporters of Obi after the party’s primary election.
Activist calls for unity ahead of 2027
Yesufu said no one was questioning Dickson’s position within the party, adding that attention should remain on preparing for the 2027 general election and finding solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.
She urged political stakeholders to avoid internal disagreements and concentrate on the larger goal ahead.
According to her, the country faces major issues that require collective efforts rather than personal disputes.
