Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial aspirant for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Aisha Yesufu, has criticised the party’s National Leader, Seriake Dickson, over his recent comments about internal issues within the party.
Yesufu said Dickson appeared to be engaging in a conflict that did not exist, following his interview where he addressed criticism from some party members and supporters of NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The activist shared her reaction in a detailed statement on her verified X account on Thursday.
Yesufu questions Dickson’s approach after interview
According to Yesufu, Dickson’s interview was disappointing and she expected him to calm tensions among members rather than make statements that could increase disagreements.
She argued that political leadership requires bringing people together, especially as the party prepares for the 2027 general election.
Yesufu also responded to Dickson’s comments suggesting that her popularity on social media could affect her willingness to follow party procedures.
Activist urges NDC leaders to prioritise election victory
Yesufu said every supporter and vote would matter in the coming election, adding that leaders must work towards attracting people rather than creating divisions.
She noted that Dickson’s first major interview after the party’s primaries should have focused on promoting the party’s candidates and explaining how NDC plans to succeed in 2027.
The activist added that the registration of the party should only be the beginning of its political journey, with the main objective being electoral success.
