2027 elections: Why Tinubu will win convincingly in the North – Northern elders

The Northern Elders Progressive Movement (NEPM) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts in tackling insecurity, developing infrastructure, and fostering political cohesion in the country.

Secretary-General of the movement, Mallam Yusuf Abubakar, in a press statement issued to newsmen in Sokoto on Sunday said the country should be appreciative of a political leader like President Tinubu, who has the capacity to introduce policies that will make Nigeria a better place to live in.

The elders’ scribe described the achievements under the current leadership across various sectors as laudable, noting that the efforts would sustain political unity, peace, and understanding despite external pressures and challenges besetting the country.

The movement called for unity and understanding among all Nigerians in order to build a prosperous nation founded on development and peace.

“There is no sacrifice for national unity and political understanding that is too great. We must tolerate one another; respect our leaders with dignity and hope, so that future generations can benefit from it.

“Our country is in dire need of political goodwill and support for peaceful coexistence,” the statement said.

The movement also commended President Tinubu’s efforts in addressing insecurity in the North, particularly in the North-west, noting that the gains should be appreciated despite isolated attacks on some communities.

It noted the tremendous success recorded by gallant troops combing dense forests where bandits hide.

The recent successes in Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara states where bandits’ enclaves were destroyed and their leaders eliminated, are further evidence of progress in the fight against terrorism, the statement stressed.
