A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has described claims linking the party and its candidate, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, to rising political violence in the state as the work of “desperate politicians.”
In a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo, Sunday, the former lawmaker said neither the party nor its candidate is connected with individuals or groups allegedly using the APC name to perpetrate violence and create unrest.
Oyintiloye said the APC is built on the Omoluabi values—integrity, discipline, humility, honesty, respect, compassion, justice, accountability, and selfless service.
He condemned the killing of innocent residents for political purposes, saying those responsible have “dead conscience.”
The APC chieftain added that the party condemns all forms of violence and bloodshed, regardless of who is involved, wants perpetrators to desist, stressing that no political ambition is worth loss of life.
Oyintiloye said the APC does not need violence to win the August 15 governorship election, arguing that violence does not guarantee electoral victory.
He also stated that the APC has dissociated itself completely from any individual or group hiding under its name to cause unrest, intimidate citizens, or disrupt public peace.
